During my first few days in my new work, people were teasing me to weigh in first. It seems that people who work there gain weight as they stay. Well, I did not give it much thought because it seems to be the case in my previous jobs. I always seem to gain weight. But I think this time it would be much worse because food seems to be more plenty here than in the previous ones. The office should supply diet pills as part of staff benefits or pay for gym time so that the staff could work out those excess weight gained from so much food. I’m just kidding though. When watching concerts or live band shows, the spot light is always on the vocalist. He or she is the one who usually moves around the stage and works the audience. He or she is usually positioned at the back because his instrument gives the loudest noise and so this means that the drummer is the person who absorbs the noise from the drum the most. A week or two ago while I was walking on my way home I saw a man picking his nose and I thought, “Well, that’s one kind of dialling that will never get out style”. No kind of touch screen will ever replace that “phone”. Then, a little while later I heard some men talking behind me. They looked to be daily wage workers, when I surreptitiously glanced at them when they made some comments. One guy sniggered and said, “Her shoes must be hungry.” His companions laughed softly. I became a little bit paranoid of whether they were talking about me because the pair of slacks I was wearing that day had this tendency to go inside my shoes. But when I sneaked a glance at my feet, the lower part of my slacks were flowing over my shoes. As I was lifting my eyes, I saw the girl in front of me with the soles of her shoes yawning widely every time she took a step. The state of her shoes did not seem to matter to the girl because she still managed to walk confidently.
Another time, I was also on my way home, along the same route. As I was about to pass a condotel, I saw two tall men who could only be basketball imports. I think they belong the San Miguel team because they were wearing San Miguel jackets and standing beside a car service with San Miguel logo and name. The passers by were staring at them and I could hear some murmurs. Unfortunately, I’m so ignorant now about the new basketball players so I can’t really say who they were.
I guess there are really many things to see around but sometimes we just get so wrapped up in our cares and worries that we do not see anything beyond ourselves. And sometimes, we deliberately don’t want to see, especially if these sights involve children who sleep on the sidewalks, the old people accosting you to ask for alms, or a mother with her very youg children begging in the overpass. I think the reason why we don’t want to look at them is not because we don’t care but because of a sense of failure that the government is not doing enough, that other institutions are not doing enough, that you are not doing enough for your country, for your city, or for your fellowmen.
Whenever my friends or relatives arrive from abroad one of the most common gifts they bring home are womens perfume. There was even a time when I had a stock of perfume and colognes. I gave away those fragrances that I did not like. Now, I’m only left with one less than one bottle of perfume and cologne. I’ll just wait for the next wave of visitors who’ll gift me with fragrances so that I won’t have to buy my own.
Now that summer is here, people will be busy planning their vacations and identifying what kind of adventures they will indulge in. My friends and I were planning to go to a mountain area but I’m still of two minds about it. I’m sure during the weekends, a vehicle with suv bike rack or loaded with camping gear would not be a quite common sight as people go out of the city for some mountain biking or camping. Others would go to the beach to soak up the sun. Summer is really a great season, if only it weren’t so hot.
A friend posted that he was glad that winter was over and he could shed the layers of clothes he puts on every day. I know winter could be very bothersome but there are things I like about it. I like the cold and I like how it makes you just want to stay at home covered in electric blankets and sleep. Moreover, I like how the snow covers the landscape and everything looks white. Of course let’s not talk about the mud and slush when the snow melts. Well, like in everything, we have to take the good as well as the bad and just enjoy and endure until the new season arrives.
I’m finding out that as you grow older, you suffer more aches and pains. Even sleeping is not as restful as it used to be. Sometimes I wake up feeling tired with accompanying body aches when I did not do anything strenuous the day before. Moreover, I feel that I cannot get comfortable with my pillow. My neck seems to be always stiff. It’s very tempting to buy memory foam toppers to help me get a better sleep since these toppers mould to your body and give proper support. Since my bed is kaput already, maybe I should go all out and buy a new bed frame and mattress with topper.

My officemates have been attending yoga classes. They seem to be very excited about the class. They were also joking that part of our teambuilding activity would be doing sun salutations and meditations. It has been years since I’ve been to a yoga class. I hope I’ll be able to join them in the future.

I can see many pregnant women looking very sexy and fashionable in their maternity clothes. There are maternity wear for all occasions, from casual, to lingerie, office attires and even formal maternity dresses. Moreover, there are already jeans made especially for expecting moms. My friend bought one when she was pregnant with her third child. So now maternity clothes need not have be just dresses but also separate tops and bottoms.
