Our sala is littered with my nephew’s toys. I bought him books and flash cards but so far he’s only interested in colouring the illustrations in the back of the card with yellow-coloured crayon. His favourite toys are balls, different sizes and colours. He loves to shoot balls on his ring and he also tries to tee off with his plastic golf set. While playing, he wants the television switched on to Disney channel. Sometimes it seems like he’s not paying attention to the TV but then he’ll suddenly dance, trying to imitate the character. It’s hilarious watching him dance. Ahh… to be young and innocent again…
Whenever one goes on a diet, temptation never fails to make itself felt. Today, our boss brought daing and dilis for our breakfast. I could not resist eating a little rice aside from my oatmeal because daing and dilis don’t taste the same without rice. Then two of my friends here in the office found out from the web that they passed the civil service exams. They are treating us to pizza and pasta for lunch. Talk about carbo overload! I guess we’ll just have to sweat more during our work out after office today because one should not turn away from grace. Hehehe. Life can be so sweet (or carbo-filled) sometimes.
It is rainy season once again. Low pressure areas are building left and right. Many residents who tasted the devastation wreaked by the storm Ondoy were very alert when Basyang came. They were afraid to experience again the destruction wrought by Ondoy. I guess car owners with expensive automobiles will start thinking of visiting car insurance companies to insure their cars because countless vehicles were carried off and wrecked by that storm last year. It is best to be prepared in situations such as this because storms here are really unpredictable.
Basyang, the storm, arrived late last night. Strong winds brought down MERALCO posts resulting to the loss of electricity starting late last night. We’re still waiting for electricity to come back. I could hear the wind blowing strongly last night as I slept fitfully. Kuya Alvin texted in the early hours of the morning that he won’t be going to the office because he was monitoring the storm all night. I was not really sure if I would go to office myself. I woke up 25 minutes late from my usual time but I decided to work since Cathy was willing to go also and we could share the taxi fare. On my way to our meeting place I could see the branches on the sides of the streets. Sweepers must have swept these to the sides earlier. Some fences and signage were also down. I even saw some firemen cutting down some branches of trees that got caught in the wires. Traffic was light because it was still a little early and classes in elementary, high school and even up to college levels were suspended. Unfortunately, they did not suspend work for government office. When I got to our Jollibee meeting place, it was closed. Lucky for the crew they did not have to wake up early. I heard a passerby comment, “Ay sarado ang Jollibee. Wala yatang generator.” (Jollibee is closed. They must have no generator.) I had to stand outside for almost 30 minutes waiting for Cathy. When she arrived we got a taxi and arrived at the office just a little late. The office was dark because the generator had no gasoline. Good thing after a while the genetor got turned on but only the lights and some sockets can be used. It’s quite warm because the generator cannot support the air conditioners. We’re still waiting up until this time for announcement from the upper echelons that we can go home early.
Two of my officemates were at the photocopier and the woman asked: “How do you reduce (the print)?” The man replied cheekily: “Do not eat.” The others who were eating in their pantry near the photocopier laughed. I guess for me and my officemates, that prescription for reducing weight is very hard to do. We love to eat and eat and eat. The best way for us lose weight would then be if we also lose our appetites. Maybephentermine would be up to the task of turning us away from food because if we count on just our self control, I think we’ll be doomed to being overweight forever. Always eating coupled with a sedentary lifestyle where we sit in our chairs all day really lead to most employees being overweight.
It was raining hard yesterday as precursor to tropical storm Basyang that hit late last night. However, that did not deter me and my friends from staying after office hours just to exercise. I thought there would only be three of us so I was pleasantly surprised when three women from other divisions arrived to exercise with us. My two friends and I are really serious about losing weight because of our upcoming trip to Boracay. Perhaps we should also think about best weight loss products that can complement our exercise so that we can really achieve our goal of losing weight before our trip.
I am looking forward to our trip to Boracay. The trip is quite unexpected because my officemates just learned about the P8 promotion from Rita, another officemate. Still fresh from their trip to Cebu, they decided to try Boracay next. All of us were able to book the P8 fare to Kalibo but I was the only one to be able to avail of the P8 fare back. This would just be my second trip to Boracay so I am very excited about it. Maybe this time I’ll be able to see the other side of the island using atv for rent. I don’t know if these are still there but there was when I went there last time though we did not avail of it. That is if it is not very expensive also. I’ve already tried island hopping and riding a sailboat. Parasailing also sounds nice but I’m quite afraid of heights. I just hope we’ll have plenty of inexpensive fun.
While waiting for our service earlier, which was running late, we discussed about foundations, face creams and beauty products. Mia mentioned that she does not use foundation on her face because of the hot weather. She just uses a face cream whose model is one of the popular young actresses on television. Arnie commented that it does not matter whether the face cream is expensive or not as long as your skin likes it. Then we started reminiscing about the face creams available in the past that were very oily. Now, there is a growing view that going back to nature and eschewing chemicals is better. This is not only true for foods being taken in but also true for beauty products. I’m sure people are also looking for an organic face cream that is made up of natural ingredients that would suit their skin best.
When I went back to the place I grew up because of my grandmother’s death, everybody commented on my size. Not having seen me for a more than a decade they were really shocked at how big I have become. My aunt was always calling my attention to my big tummy. It has really got me thinking seriously about different diet fads and diet supplements that can help me lose weight. Why can’t I be blessed with a fast metabolism and slim physique?
