One of my dreams is to own a beachfront property. Usually I can only go to the beach during summer for not more than three nights because that is all I can afford. I really enjoy lying on the sand at night with friends and talking and watching the stars shining very brightly with the sound of the waves lapping at the background. I guess I am not only the one with such a dream. A lot of people want to own summer homes near beaches or lakes that is why there is a market for such properties as Outer Banks homes. If I can afford it, I will buy one in a heartbeat.
We were talking in one of our classes about the on-going economic crisis and our professor said that in the US it is very hard for people to lose their jobs because of the weak social safety nets. Losing your job does not only mean losing your source of income but also your health insurance. If you do not have insurance and you get sick, then you would have a very difficult time of it. I guess finding an affordable health insurance would be everyone’s priority.
Yesterday, on our way back to the dormitory, we fell to discussing about pimples. Wendy said that she knew somebody who had to take a long leave of absence from the office just to have his acne treated. It must have really been severe indeed. Sometimes the best acne treatment for such cases would be a change in lifestyle. Healthy eating habits and sleeping patterns have to be adopted. Moreover, a less stressful lifestyle should also be followed.
Single ladies are always in danger of being asked, “How come you are not married yet?â€. It is not the easiest question to answer. I like cars because it can get me from one place to another with the least fuss. Since I cannot afford one, I make do with public transportation or getting a ride from friends or officemates. But I really wish for one whenever I am waiting for public transportation downtown during rush hour or during pouring rain or both. I am not however very particular about cars. I just want it to look new, with a good working airconditioner and clean smell. I don’t care if it looks a lot like the other cars on the street. However, there are car enthusiasts out there who like their cars to be unique and one of a kind. An extreme version would be one of those cars from that MTV show, “Pimp my Ride.†But between these two perspectives, one can make a car look different by putting billet grilles. Your car can look unique and stylish without doing an extreme makeover.

A while back, there was such a great demand for nurses, nursing aides, caregivers, and other medical related work. A lot of nursing schools and caregiver training institutes sprouted up. Our Commission, which oversees the higher education colleges and universities in our country, had its hands full with the sudden mushrooming of new nursing schools. On the other hand, accreditation for training centres for caregivers and nursing aides were handled by another national agency. If you are a medical assistant training school wannabe, you had to get certified by this agency. There were a lot of people who got ripped off by those so called training centres that is why it is best to make sure that you only enrol in a training school that is certified by that agency. As of now, there is not that much demand anymore so I guess a lot of those fly by night schools are now closing.
Mabubuo ba kaya ulit ang Korea? Magiging isang bansa na kaya ulit sila at magkatagpo ang mga pamilyang nagkahiwalay dahil sa digmaan ng Hilaga at Silangang Korea? Ito ang mithiin ng lahat ng mga Koreano.

Some people are so lucky that they have fast metabolism and they never have to worry about losing those extra pounds just because they happen to like eating. These kinds of people do not have to think about diet pills and heavy workouts. Then, there also those people who are not really fond of eating. I am still of two minds whether to envy them or not. On one hand, they stay slim because they have to appetite but on the other hand, they lose out on the feeling of wonder that a delicious meal gives you. However, I also envy those people who have strong wills and can stick to a diet and or a workout in order to maintain a great figure. These people are really disciplined and persevering. I guess having a strong will is the next best thing to having a fast metabolism.
One thing I missed about Korea while we were in Beijing for a short vacation was using the credit or debit card. Makers of the portable credit card machine must be doing brisk business here in Korea because almost everywhere you go you can use your plastic. It’s very convenient because almost all the restaurants, shops, and grocery stores, even those “mom and pop†varieties accept credit cards. The sellers don’t even bother to check the signatures at the back of your card, unlike back in the Philippines. When we were in Beijing, we discovered that paying with plastic is not as common as here in Korea. We tried asking if we can use credit card to pay for entrances to the tourist spots, especially as we were already running out of money but to no avail. So far, Korea is the best country when it comes to using the square plastic.
