Insurance claims

While walking on our way to Namsan Cable Car Station from Myongdong Subway, we passed two men arguing and gesturing to the parked cars. They were speaking Korean so we did not really know what they were arguing about or if they arguing at all. We just assumed that maybe one guy bumped the other guy’s car while trying to park. If that is the case then I just hope that both of them have car insurance so that they would not have problems in case some repairs are needed. I remember once during IBC class, our professor mentioned something about Korean car insurance but I cannot remember it already. It had something to do with him being rear ended by a car once. He did not suffer from any major injury or what but he was urged to stay in the hospital for two weeks so that he will be paid by the insurance company of the guy who rear ended him. He was climbing walls just after a week so he did not finish the two weeks. I think he just got paid for the damages or something, a lot less amount than if he completed the two weeks.

Howard Mandel really knows how to make a Sale. This time the situation is he visits his son during his first day at work and guess what the son is doing? He is buying Xbox from the internet but used his dad’s credit card. The video is funny and depicts a real life situation between parents and children where even though the kids have their jobs, sometimes they still rely on their parents for their luxuries.

Furniture Shopping

When we moved to our new house, looking for furniture was one of the things that I hated doing. Being the only girl in the family, I was obliged to accompany my mom to look for furniture. There were moments when we lost patience with each other. Furniture shopping is very frustrating especially if you have limited budget. Since it was my first experience in that area, I did not know where to look for discount furniture or affordable furniture except in the malls. It really takes imagination to shop for your house because you have to visualize how it will look and how it will fit in your overall design. Maybe that was one of our problems; we did not visualize first how our house should turn out and then bought furniture accordingly. I certainly learned that lesson. If we move again (somewhere bigger and better, I hope) then I’ll plan first before I buy things.

Gift cards

For our office, December is the best month of the year because even after the 13th month pay, we can still look forward to some bonus from the office. These additional bonuses usually come in the form of gift checks or groceries. Two years ago, each of us received a gift card to one of the biggest department store chains in the country. I used mine to buy gifts while others gave their gift cards as gifts. The idea of gift cards is great because the person you give the card to can buy what she wants and it’s less crass than giving money directly. But like gift checks, they work better if you purchase products of the exact or higher amount than the gift card because if you purchase something with a price lesser than the gift card or gift check, then you won’t get your change.

(This is an example of a blouse used by Filipinas long time ago. If this looks familiar to you, that means that you have been to Tiendesitas because this can be found outside their women’s comfort room.)

(This is the usual bag given during seminars and conferences. Usually the bags are black or dark colored. If you are always attending seminars and conferences then you’ll have a lot of bags like this at home.)

Watch to go

For me a watch is an essential part of everyday wear. I feel that something is missing whenever I forget to put on my watch because I’m running late for class or an appointment. I’m not very particular about brands but of course given a choice, I’ll choose a Lange Sohne over a Divisoria watch anytime. I like watches with simple and elegant styles because they can go with casual or more formal wear.

Last Sunday I saw Deki in the hallway and I asked her what she bought when she went shopping earlier in the day. She told me she bought shoes, some clothes and lingerie. I teased her that maybe she bought sexy lingerie because there was some progress in her relationship with the guy we were teasing her to in our dorm. She just laughed. We’re always teasing each other especially with the White Day coming up and we want someone from the group to have an admirer who will give her a cake which all of us will share. They were teasing me that I should do my best to get a cake and I told them that if they really want to eat cake on White Day, then they should give me W5,000 each and I’ll go buy a cake for the group. Hehehe
