Nowadays, when you go walking or commuting you’ll always see people with earphones stuck in their ears. With the advent of cellphones with radios or MP3 players, more and more people are walking around lost in their own world. There’s nothing wrong with listening to music while traveling, I’m guilty of such pleasure especially if it’s a long travel, but for short distances or while walking on the streets, I thinks it’s kind of hazardous. One may get so caught up with listening and become lost to what is happening around that he/she might get into an accident. Of course there are also the dangers of hold-uppers and snatchers on the lookout to make a quick buck. Cellphones, MP3 players, Ipods, and PSPs are very easy to fence so owners should be careful in using such gadgets in public.
Last night my insurance agent dropped by to have me sign some forms and sell me variable insurance. She was very convincing so I said, “Why not?†She explained that I only had to pay P10k a year and the insurance company will invest my money. I asked some questions and signed the papers. What I forgot to do was ask her if their company offered travel insurance. I was thinking if I might need such insurance for my almost one year sojourn to Seoul next year. However, it would also be too late for me to get one because of the long holiday and I’ll be leaving before the holiday ends. I guess I’ll just double on my prayer insurance to get me safely through that one year.
