I saw this inside the jeepney when I was paying my fare. The otherside says Cubao, since the jeepney was travelling the Montalban-Cubao route. Aside from their speed and breaking traffic rules, jeepneys are also notorious for posting bawdy lines usually relating to paying of fares or innuendos about the driver’s skills. It was the first time I saw such a sign.
While I was in Cebu, my friends and I ate at Larsian. It’s a very popular barbecue place since I was child. However, eating there requires a cast-iron stomach because it is not quite hygienic. I wanted to eat barbecue and puso that’s why my friends brought me there. Puso is rice cooked inside weaved coconut leaves. It is makes eating rice very easy if you don’t have a spoon or fork.
Larsian is styled like a food court with all the stalls selling grilled food so you can just imagine how smoky it is. When you enter the opening, you’ll be greeted by barkers calling out for you to eat at their stalls. There are long tables in front the stalls so all the customers will share the long table with each other. The first step is to choose a food stall then choose the food you want to order. Menu usually consists of barbecued chicken parts and chicken entrails like liver, heart, intestines, etc. and same with the pork. Grilled fish and squid are also available. The seller shall cook or heat the food that you’ve chosen then serve it to you in a plate wrapped in plastic. You’ll also be given plates wrapped in plastic. In lieu of spoon and fork, you’ll be given plastic to wrap your hand in so that you can eat with your hands. The plastic comes in handy because there is washbowl or sink available for you to wash your hands. I enjoyed the dinner very much even though I smelled like barbecue after.
In order to complete my Cebu food trip, we proceeded to the nearest Orange Brutus place to order mango shake. Orange Brutus was also very popular (and only?) fastfood place when I was still in elementary and high school, before the advent of Jollibee and McDonalds. It was known for its mango shake and sausages. I think that it’s only their mango shake that still remained true to my memories.
(Will Korea become one nation? Will the two Koreas divided by war become one country again so that the families who were broken apart be united again? Unification of North and South Korea is the Korean dream.)
(I noticed that the senior citizens here in Korea and even in China are very lively and active. Here in Korea, they go out in groups. I see them wearing complete hiking uniforms and climb the different mountains surrounding Seoul. Sometimes I even see them with professional-looking cameras and taking pictures in the parks. In China, on the otherhand, it’s fun to see groups of senior citizens dancing, singing or playing ethnic instruments in the parks. I hope that when I grow old I’ll be having as much fun as they have.)

The 24th Oympic games were held in Seoul, Korea while the China hosted the 29th Olympic games in Beijing.)

(In the parks in Beijing, it is enjoyable to see people playing. Not only the children but also their parents and even older people look happy kicking an object with feathers and flying kites. When you see them playing, you’ll think that it is very easing to do but when you try it out, it’s quite difficult to do.)
(This was the victory celebration of our soccer team when we won the match during our school’s Sports Day. We were very glad to win the match because the soccer game was deemed as the highlight of the day. However, it turned out that it was just the beginning of our winning streak. We went on to win the relay and the tug of war, thus we were declared the overall champion.)
(I noticed that flowers do not blossom simultaneously in our campus. There are some flowers that blossom when spring is just starting. Others, like this one in the photo, just start to flower while others are already fading.)
