I was watching the news earlier and there was this driver who just decided to drive counter flow in EDSA, the busiest highway in Philippines. I cannot remember how many cars he managed to crash on his mad trip. It was good thing nobody got seriously injured or killed. He was brought to the police station and the police declared that the suspect was not in his right mind. Incidents like this make you think how life is so unpredictable. Choosing the right floor tiles is essential to building a great house. Different parts of the house require different types of flooring. For places that usually get wet like kitchens and toilet and bathrooms, it is important to choose tiles that are not so slippery when wet. Accidents will be regular occurrence if this is not taken into account. I can remember how lucky I felt every time I finished my shower without slipping because the floors in the dorm shower room were very slippery. I was thinking that the shower room was an area where accidents were waiting to happen. Thank God that while we were there no such incident took place.

During the class reporting in our Public Investment and Economic Development subject, one of the groups presented about collaboration between countries in offering medical services. A developing country will offer the land, infrastructure and labour while the developed country will offer the expertise and most of the financing. This known as medical tourism which caters mostly to older people from developed countries that are looking for cheaper medical care than in their home countries. So it is not surprising that people go to Thailand for plastic surgery while others go for spine surgery Mexico. The Philippines has also been trying to look into how it can benefit from this medical tourism phenomenon considering that it has been importing thousands of nurses, doctors and care givers over the years. If it can offer better pay for these medical and support personnel then these people would not need to go abroad to work.
