One of the more common skin diseases, eczema is the inflammation of the epidermis. Usually, skin becomes dry, reddened and very itchy. Although it can affect any part of the body, typically it appears on the insides of elbows and knees, ankles, face and neck. I can remember that when I was in high school the back of my right knee was always itchy and red. I used to scratch it all the time. I don’t know how it started and I also can’t remember when it disappeared. Eczema can sometimes occur briefly, mine was on and off for more than a year, or can persist over a longer period. Treatments can come in the form of ointments or oral medicines or injections. It is best to ask your doctor for the best treatment.
