“You’ve Gained Weight”

I guess one of the most common greeting of Filipinos to each other after not having seen each other for sometime is either “You’ve gained weight” or “Have you lost weight?” I’m also guilty of using these words often but recently having been the recipient of the “You’ve gained weight” chorus time and again, I realized how wearying it is to hear. Especially if it is true and you’re already very much aware of the fact that you badly need top fat burners to make you lose weight. Usually when people tell me I’ve gained weight or even I’m getting fatter, I just smile and agree. However, maybe it got too much for a former high school classmate because she posted in her Facebook shout out a fictional conversation (I think) that goes something like this: (although it loses something in translation)
Person: You’ve grown fat Girl.
Girl: Yes and you’re still ugly.

Eating Oatmeal

Problems with the bowel movement, either by constipation or diarrhea may lead to hemorrhoids. I can remember one of my friends, who suffered from haemorrhoids, use to eat cooked rolled oats for breakfast every day. She said that for her it was the best hemorrhoid treatment. Fiber greatly aids digestion that is why it is recommended to eat fibrous foods for good digestion. People who suffer from hemmorrhoids should limit their intake of spicy food because it can aggravate the situation.

Nowadays, daily eating habits leave a lot to be desired. Because people are always on the go, the quickest way to cook the food is to fry it. Moreover, it has become a habit to buy from fast food restaurants with their fatty and greasy food or buy microwavable food that is full of preservatives. These kinds of food leave a lot of toxins in the body. It gives rise to diseases like cancer and heart attack. It would be good to do a colon and body cleanse regularly to eliminate those harmful toxins. Making an effort to change to a healthy diet would lead to a longer more productive life.

Moisturizing During Winters

Cold weather can really dry the skin. Coming from a tropical country, we did not realize how dry our skins could become. Our lotions, creams and moisturisers that were enough in warm weather were no match for the cold of winter. Good thing there was a previous year student who introduced us to the best day cream to use on the face to combat the dryness brought on by the cold. It really worked for me and some of my friends.

Acne Problem

When my brother’s fiancée came home last January to attend a friend’s wedding I was surprised to see that her face was full of pimples. She is working in Singapore now. She doesn’t know what caused acne to break out on her skin. She was here again the past week and I saw her yesterday. I commented that her pimples seemed to have lessened but she said it was not really so. She just came from the dermatologist to have it treated that was why it looked better than before. It is really important to have a doctor to treat acne and not put any anti-acne cream you come across with because these treatments can exacerbate the problem. I hope that her acne problem will be solved before their wedding next year.

One of the more common skin diseases, eczema is the inflammation of the epidermis. Usually, skin becomes dry, reddened and very itchy. Although it can affect any part of the body, typically it appears on the insides of elbows and knees, ankles, face and neck. I can remember that when I was in high school the back of my right knee was always itchy and red. I used to scratch it all the time. I don’t know how it started and I also can’t remember when it disappeared. Eczema can sometimes occur briefly, mine was on and off for more than a year, or can persist over a longer period. Treatments can come in the form of ointments or oral medicines or injections. It is best to ask your doctor for the best treatment.

We visited my brother at their booth in the Cultural Center of the Philippines on January 31, 2010 during the 1st Philippine International Guitar Festival. We arrived their at around 1pm. It was the last day of the festival and there were only a few people milling around because it was a dead hour. I got a look at the guitars that he told me cost between USD1,500 to USD6,000. My goodness, guitars can really be very expensive. He told me that Domingo Javier, the designer is a very famous guitar maker in Cebu. Cebu is really well known for good quality guitars. If you are into guitars, visit Cebu and browse around for value for money quality guitars.

Weddings and Baby Showers

I am at the point in my life that my friends are either getting married or having a baby. As of now I have two wedding invitations and two baby shower invitations. The first baby shower would be this coming Saturday and the next would be in March. I have reached a point where it is just another wedding to go to and I am starting to feel lazy about attending. I do not like to go shopping for a dress because my dresses do not fit me anymore and those that still fit I have worn over and over. Maybe going to a baby shower is better because you do not have to dress up unlike when you are going to a wedding and the gift usually costs less.

Looking for Something New

After coming back from a scholarship abroad, it takes awhile to get used to going back to work. For some people, going back to the old job is undesirable. My friend is one of those who are already restless with the same old and considering that a lot of her friends in the office have already sought better opportunities elsewhere. She was convincing me and another friend to send our resumes to a Japanese firm looking for paralegal assistants. I promised her I will after I have updated my resume but I keep forgetting to do it. Maybe I will get around to doing it today. I am not so restless to get away from my organization yet.

Moving Away

My brother was reassigned to another city this year. As a medical representative, it is part of the job description that you get transferred every few years. It was a good thing that the company takes care of the moving details and he does not have to think about looking for a long distance moving company. He just packed his things and the company shipped everything, including his car. I guess being a medical representative has its perks like a car, free gasoline and other freebies but it also has its downside. One of these is always being on the move and the inevitability of being transferred to other areas.
