Ito ang victory celebration ng aming soccer team nung kami ang naging kampyon sa laro sa Sports Day ng aming paaralan. Tuwang tuwa kami dahil ang soccer ang pinakaimportante laro nung araw na yun. Ngunit umpisa lang pala ng panalo namin yung soccer. Kami din ang nanalo sa relay at tug of war kaya ang pangkat namin ang tinanghal na pangkalahatang kampyon.

(This was the victory celebration of our soccer team when we won the match during our school’s Sports Day. We were very glad to win the match because the soccer game was deemed as the highlight of the day. However, it turned out that it was just the beginning of our winning streak. We went on to win the relay and the tug of war, thus we were declared the overall champion.)

Napansin ko na hindi sabaysabay namulaklak ang mga bulaklak dito sa aming kapaligiran. May ibang mga klase na sa umpisa pa lang ng tagsibol ay pinakita na ang kanilang kagandahan. Meron din namang iba, gaya nitong nasa litrato, na naguumpisa pa lang mamulaklak habang pawala naman yung ibang mga bulaklak sa kapaligiran.

(I noticed that flowers do not blossom simultaneously in our campus. There are some flowers that blossom when spring is just starting. Others, like this one in the photo, just start to flower while others are already fading.)

One of the most frequent places you encounter when reading regency romances are gazebos. I have never been to England but from devouring all those romance novels, I can just imagine that all the big estates, especially country estates, must have a gazebo or two. It is a favourite trysting place for the hero and heroine of the novel or sometime for villains also. Gazebos are great places to hang out. Back in elementary school, one of our favourites haunts was also a gazebo in our schoolyard. It is airy and protects you from the sun while enjoying the soft breeze outside.

I am so glad that I bought a new laptop before I came here. It has a larger memory than my old laptop so I am able to store the thousands of pictures I have taken since arriving. Just for our China trip, I have accumulated more than 1000 shots. I have a friend whose notebook computer memory is already down to just five gigabytes because of the pictures she saved. She has been meaning to buy an external hard disk to store all the pictures so that she can get erase them from her laptop. One of these days, she will finally get around to buying one, especially if her notebook would not work anymore.

My friend Wendy is getting obsessed about her pimples. We have come up with all sorts of theories as to why her pimples have been appearing. Our first theory was because of stress and sleepless nights due to studying but during the spring break and now when it is not yet stressful; her pimples are still very much in evidence. She has tried avoiding chocolates and changing skin care treatments but to no avail. We went to a beauty shop again and tried asking for the sales lady’s opinion on acne treatment. Due to the language barrier, we had to resort to pointing at the pimples while she pointed out the products. It was quite funny but in the end Wendy decided to just try one of the products in the set instead of buying it all because it was quite expensive. Hopefully, it will finally work for her.

Summer is fast approaching. People, especially the students, are making full use of the outdoor furniture available on campus. You can see groups of students congregating in the different benches and some picnic tables to enjoy the cool and mild weather. It is so different during winter where you can only see the students as they hurry from one building to another in order to get out of the bitter cold as soon as possible. But now that it is sunny and warm, everybody is outside enjoying the fresh air and warm sunlight. I am sure it would be another case when it gets to hot already.

Upgrading yourself is always good for your career. Learning new skills and polishing old ones will help you move up in the office or help you consider a new career if you feel up to a change. There are a lot of trainings available out there. If you want a career in sales, you can consider sales training. From the training you can get tips and strategies that can improve your sales abilities and help you meet your quota. You can also consider getting a master’s or doctorate degree. If you work for the government or the academe, these degrees will come in handy. Whatever you decide, you must always pursue continuous training and education to improve your marketability in the job market.

When I was young I wanted to enrol in piano lessons, ballet lessons and other extracurricular lessons for children. Unfortunately, budget constraints dictated otherwise. It was funny because I had friends who were taking such lessons and they were always complaining about how tiring these lessons were and they cut in on playtime. I guess if I also got my wish during that time, I would have also complained after a while. It must have been the case of the grass being greener on the other side.

It is so nice to have those cabinets featured in movies that open and close using the remote control if you want to watch television. A small room look bigger if there are less clutter lying around. A stereo cabinet to house your stereo and keep it free from dust is also a good addition to the room. To complete the fantasy would be a very comfortable couch or a lazy boy recliner where you can watch television or listen to music in comfort.

We will be having our Sports Day on May 22, a Friday. All the students, faculty and staff are encouraged to join the one-whole day affair. I guess the school might have had trouble inviting students because administration office sent the email invitations a lot of times until eventually they included in their message a call for more MBA students to register for the Sports Day. Maybe the reason why few students heeded their call was that they sent out the invitations around reading week time when students were very busy studying for the final exams and doing their papers. I just hope that majority of the student body will join so that it will be more fun. I wish that whatever team I will go to will win so that we might get some sports gifts or prizes. Of course the prizes are not really important but they would not hurt either.
