They say that one of the clues to look for if the guy is gay is his knowledge of fashion. I remember the movie Legally Blond wherein Reese Witherspoon’s character was able to win her case was by proving that the witness for the prosecution who was touted to be the woman defendant’s lover was gay. How did she know he was gay? He was able to recognize her Manolo Blahnik shoes earlier when they encountered each other at the water fountain. Another example I remember is the scene in Clueless wherein Cher was airing out to Dionne about her disappointing date with Christian when Dionne’s boyfriend suddenly commented that Christian was a “cakeboyâ€. They were unbelievers at first and then Dionne commented, “He does dress better than you, Cher.†And to think Cher was the leading fashion icon in their school.
Of course you can argue that these two examples are just fictitious characters but sometimes fictitious stories and characters are based on real people and real situations. However, it is not to say that all fashionable guys are gays and all gays are fashionable. It’s just one telltale sign to look out for in consonance with other telltale signs. But what if, for example, your boyfriend stares for a long time at your French tips and then he asks where you had it done? What would you think? Then he makes you climb the stairs in your stiletto heels instead of taking the elevator because he loves to hear the clickity-clack sound of high heels. Should your gay radar sound an alarm?
