Yellow Metered Airport Taxis in NAIA

The yellow metered airport taxis in NAIA were a pleasant surprise. When I arrived from Korea it was late Thursday night so no one was able to fetch me. I was worrying how I was going to get home since I knew airport taxis cost the earth and it’s very difficult to get out of NAIA on foot with very heavy luggage in order to get a cheaper taxi ride out of the airport. Without any more options, Ate Rita and I decided to inquire how much the rate of the yellow airport taxis were. I was used to flate rates by areas from airport taxis in the Domestic and Centennial Airports so I was surprised when the dispatcher told me that the taxis were metered and cost about twice as much as the regular taxis. I asked him to approximate how much from the airport to our place. When he mentioned not more than five hundred pesos I decided to try it out. The computation was P70 flag down rate for the first 500 meters then P4 for every succeeding 300 meters.

If I remember correctly, my total was less than P350 considering that the taxi stopped to refuel and by my count he should have deducted P12 from my bill. Hehehe…It was even cheaper than the flat rate of Basic taxi from our place to the airport which is P400. What was also nice about the airport taxi was that it issued an official receipt in case you need one for reimbursement purposes.

So for my friends abroad who are contemplating of coming home and they have nobody to fetch them, take the yellow metered airport taxis in NAIA. It’s much safer because there is somebody who keeps track of the taxis and the destination of the passengers and it’s cheaper than the airport taxis with flat rates for specific areas.

NEVER EVER TAKE THE YELLOW METERED TAXI!!!!!!!!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!

Those YELLOW METERED TAXIS are operated by many individuals who own just a few units and member of the cooperative. So if you have complaint against unit owner, you will have to go as far as bulacan. Better use one with a manila address.

always ask for the receip and write down the meters total due on it… if the driver refuses the total due is bogus… dont pay the taxi or call the taxi’s office.

Me & my hubby was waiting for a cab. Then he waved at one and we did not realize it was a yellow cab til he parked close to us. Before he rolled down his window my hubby waved NO realizing that it was 70pesos flag down rate but he said ‘Sorry pare’. About an inch open window he said things and he was rude!!! And said in addition don’t call if u don’t ride! WTF??? We said sorry.
Who and where do we call to make a complaint about the yellow cab taxi???

Just got home from Singapore tonight. Rode a yellow metered taxi from NAIA. I usually pay bet P350-400 using the yellow cab from the airport to my house. To my surprise, when we reached my house, my fare was P946! 23 kms daw ang distance from the airport to my place. I asked for a receipt. Wala daw.

I rode the yellow taxi last nov 10 from naia terminal 3 to crown plaza hotel in ortigas. There were 4 of us riding. It was my first time to ride the yellow taxi. I was surprised that there was no meter reading but the driver just pressed a button in the meter upon our arrival at the crown plaza hotel. the reading was P630 pesos. I think the reading is 2x the usual rate. My question is, is this the normal procedure that we will know our bill only upon arrival to our destination? I felt that I was fooled. Sanay ng manloko ang mga drivers ninyo. The driver kept on telling us to look at the laminated rates to different destinations. Why does he have to do that? This yellow taxi has to be stopped. The driver told us that the owner of most of the yellow taxis is from Iligan City.

From this day on, i will never, never, never, ever ride the yellow taxi again and I will be spreading this experience to my relatives, friends and others.

tnx :)
