Bad Timing

Ever since we transferred to our new office some office mates and I ride with an office mate who has an FX. We have a designated meeting time and place in the morning and in the afternoon we have different points where he drops us before proceeding to Mega Mall to fetch his wife. One time I decided that I will go to Mega Mall but changed my mind when I realized that it was San Miguel Beer’s Octoberfest opening. I did not relish getting stuck in traffic. Then the week after I thought of going to Mega Mall again but my co-passengers discouraged me because it was a Friday and there was going to be another San Miguel happening. Just imagine the horrendous traffic it would bring. So I changed my mind again. It turned out that there was no San Miguel event that Friday but traffic was still very heavy according to Kuya Alvin, our driver and owner of the vehicle. Then last Monday I was very definite in my desire to go to Mega Mall. I was going to visit SMART and have my SMART Bro cut because PLDT just connected MyDSL the Saturday before. It was a perfect timing because my monthly payment for SMART Bro was due that day. However, when I asked Kuya Alvin if he was going to Mega Mall he informed me that his wife was on leave for a week because they were remodeling their house so he won’t be going to Mega Mall the whole week. Waaaahhhhh!!! So instead of going to Mega Mall I went to Robinson’s because it was nearer and easier to commute and there is a SMART office in Robinson’s Galeria.

My bad timing did not end there. Earlier today, an office mate cooked rice for us in the office. There was a lot of left over rice so I volunteered to bring home the rice and cook fried rice the next day. I was thinking that with the service it would not be so cumbersome to lug the fried rice. So there I was bringing the heavy Tupperware container full of left over rice (and it was very heavy indeed) when I heard Kuya Alvin say that he was on leave the next day because an inspector would be dropping by their house and Kuya Alvin wanted to talk to him. Haaayyyy….So I’ll be waking up earlier than usual tomorrow to cook fried rice then I’ll be lugging around what weighs like two kilos of rice while getting on and off two or three jeepneys and a bus. It’s really true what they say about good intentions…..

Liquid Crystal Display (LCD for short :)

LCD monitors are so great. They are small and lightweight. It is easier to transport them to venues outside our office whenever we have symposium, conferences or orientations. Of course we are very careful in transporting them because these monitors are more sensitive than the previous ones. Sometimes I even jokingly call the attention of my office mates when they touch the screen a little to enthusiastically.

I can just imagine if we have an LCD TV at home then I would be constantly yelling at my nephew because he has this habit of pounding his toys at the TV screen. I guess I will just have to wait until he outgrows this habit before thinking of shifting to LCD TV.
