Business Information Websites

When I am doing profiles of companies assigned to me, business information websites really help me in completing my assigned profiles. Company overview, biographies of top executives, financial data and stock profiles are only some items on which I need to get information. It would be a lot easier if all these information were available in just one site. There are companies who put a lot of effort in making their websites informative and as user-friendly as possible. However, there are also some company websites that are not user friendly and information about their company is very limited. Worse, some company websites do not even have any of the information I mentioned above. They only focus on their products. I get irritated whenever I encounter such websites. That is where business information websites become very useful sources of data. One such website is the Alacra Store and among the company it features is the alpine industries.

Eating Out

When I was young, my aunt used to bring us to family restaurants, fast food outlets or supermarket food courts for a treat. She did not want us to be ignorant about eating out. This usually happened during weekends when she did not have to go to work. She was also very particular about table manners. I can remember arriving home before dinner from an afternoon spent at a classmate’s house and seeing the table set with knives and forks instead of spoon. She wanted us to learn how to eat with a knife to prepare us for a fine dining experience. After that, she treated us to dinner at a nice restaurant.

She left for California when I was in high school. I have not seen her since but we have kept in touch through phone calls and emails. It is my dream to visit her one-day. Maybe if I can visit she can take me around the scenic spots in California and cap it with a dinner in one of the restaurants in La Jolla fine dining so that I can enjoy its beautiful sunset. Another vacation to dream about.

(There’s no sight more beautiful when your on the beach than the sun setting. It seems that the sky is on fire as the sun goes down, with the day giving way to night. I’m not fond of waking up early that’s why I see more sunsets than sunrises.)

High tech toys

Toys have really evolved since I was a kid. I remember my brothers and I were already very happy with our Family Computer and the Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong and my ultimate favorite, Circus Charlie games. Now, we’re talking about xbox 360, part of the seventh generation of video game consoles. If the Family Computer was third generation and Xbox 360 is seventh, then in the span of less than 25 years, there are already four generations of video game consoles. How fast a development is that? Whereas before you had to buy cartridges for your Famicom in order to play new games and you can only compete with one player, with the Xbox Live service of Xbox 360, multiple players can compete online. Aside from that, contents such as arcade games, game demos, trailers and even TV shows and movies are downloadable, all part of the service. Now the question is, what is next for the video games industry?

Bus and Chivalry

Earlier, I was on my way to Medical City to deliver my specimen. I caught a non-aircon bus because it was the first transpo available and I had to get to the hospital as soon as possible. When I got on the bus, I was the only one standing. I positioned myself in the middle of the bus and was waiting for one of the guys sitting in the nearby seats to offer me their seat. But alas, there was no such gentleman. I was very philosophical about it since I espouse equality of the sexes. So that means that guys have equal rights to the seats. It was so hot and traffic was so heavy. What was supposed to be a 5 minute ride turned into a 20. Anyway, I was standing and holding on tightly to the back of somebody else’s seat in order to stay upright when I felt a tap on my arm and a guy said “Ate.” When I turned, he gestured to the seat he vacated. When I saw the guy, I thought, “How dare you call me ate, you look older than me.” Hehe. I forgot to thank him when I declined his offer because I was still reeling from the shock of being called ate. It was inconvenient for me to take a seat when I was already near my destination. Anyway, I was very polite (except for forgetting to say thank you) when I turned down his offer. Well, chivalry is not yet dead, just very slow to manifest itself.

Shoes and more shoes

Girls can never have too many shoes but of course Imelda Marcos went overboard with her thousands of shoes. That’s way too extravagant for me. I am thinking more of a few pairs of office shoes, some evening shoes, sandals, slippers, slip-ons, rubber shoes and sneakers. Before, when I think about outdoor footwear, I always thought of rubber shoes and sneakers. Not anymore. I never knew there were so many kinds of outdoor footwear until I saw the Merrell catalogue, you name it, and Merrell has it. And the best thing is that you can order Merrell shoes online. Isn’t that convenient or what?

Memory

I was looking through my options of what treatment to undergo for a current ailment and I noticed that one of the side effects of one treatment was short-term memory loss. What will become of my already abysmal memory if I were to suffer such a side effect? Even now I am so absent minded that I have to go back and forth from the restroom to my desk because I left behind the things I need. If only there are also memory upgrades available for humans like those for the computers, my memory certainly needs boosting. I might even start recalling the names of those who owe me money :)

Get away

I have not been able to go on a vacation this summer, even just for a weekend. I have been sick with fever or still recovering, then getting sick again all through out April and during the start of May. I am just feeling better now. If I can afford a grand vacation, I would like to travel. It would be nice to go to the United States to visit relatives and see the sights. However, aside from the usual places to visit and the famous states, or the states most Filipinos are familiar with like California, New York and Florida, it would be nice to see the Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. The island is one of the beautiful barrier islands to the Atlantic Ocean. Just thinking of getting a Hilton Head rental and staying there for a month to unwind with the beach at your doorstep and the different activities you can enjoy like biking, kayaking, enviro-tours, etc. Sounds like a perfect get away. If only wishes were horses, then beggars would ride.

Vanity, thy name is…

I have heard about hair transplants, this is usually the last recourse for bald guys who cannot accept that they will be hairless for the rest of their lives, but now I have come across eyelash hair transplant. I guess not everybody is born with equal eyelash hair. There are people with long and curly eyelashes, while others just have short stubs. Curly eyelashes certainly add beauty to the eyes. However, wanting to have transplanted eyelashes, it boggles the mind of how vain some people could get. Well, if you really think about it, it is not such a big leap from fake eyelashes to wanting permanent fake eyelashes. I think this is where transplanting eyelashes comes in. Just imagine, if you are in the habit of wearing fake eyelashes everyday, by having transplants, you can save so much time and energy. You can also be sure that it would not come off at an awkward moment, sparing you extra anxiety. But I still think this is way too vain for me.

Vanities

My aunt and I talk a lot. In one of our discussions, I was surprised to hear her say that if she can afford it, she will have a facelift. I never thought of her as somebody who would like to have a facelift. Maybe all us have our little vanities and this is hers. I see a lot of people on television whose faces have undergone a little nip here and a little tuck there. These famous faces seem so ageless with nary a wrinkle to mar their perfection. I guess if you were the same age as these people but look way much older and less glamorous, you would also like to have what they have.

Let us just clarify that some men also undergo facelifts. This kind of vanity, as in most vanities, is not limited to women. Well, if you can afford it and can get away with it, then go. It really goes down to personal choice. To have a facelift, or not to have facelift, that is the question.
