My aunt and I talk a lot. In one of our discussions, I was surprised to hear her say that if she can afford it, she will have a facelift. I never thought of her as somebody who would like to have a facelift. Maybe all us have our little vanities and this is hers. I see a lot of people on television whose faces have undergone a little nip here and a little tuck there. These famous faces seem so ageless with nary a wrinkle to mar their perfection. I guess if you were the same age as these people but look way much older and less glamorous, you would also like to have what they have.
Let us just clarify that some men also undergo facelifts. This kind of vanity, as in most vanities, is not limited to women. Well, if you can afford it and can get away with it, then go. It really goes down to personal choice. To have a facelift, or not to have facelift, that is the question.

( The beloved Mother. This was taken at the chapel of the University of San Carlos, Talamban Campus. The chapel is beautiful and you would feel like your on top of the mountain. It’s quite a long climb if you use the stairs going up.)

A lot of showbiz stars have had their noses fixed. Before it was such a big issue and the stars would try to hide it, like you could hide something so obvious. The only term I knew about a nose job was nose lift, I guess it’s because Filipinos usually have flat noses, so they needed lifting up to make them look sharper. I just learned that the proper term for nose jobs is rhinoplasty. It means nasal reshaping. For more rhinoplasty information, just search through the internet.
There was an episode of Doogie Howser, MD before where Doogie had this new fellow woman doctor with a rather long and strong nose that detracted from her looks. One day, Doogie stumbled upon some pictures that showed the woman doctor with a much smaller nose. It turned out she was contemplating having her nose done.
Looking back, I can see now that it is not only Filipinos and their fellow Asians with flat noses who want to undergo rhinoplasty, but Caucasians also who want lessen the impact of their strong noses.

I was watching Singing Bee the other night. There was this contestant who was very proud to announce he was a teacher at the beginning of the show. There was a portion where there were only two of them left and they had to break the tie. The first to step on the floor after Buboy (Cesar Montano), the host, announced the year the song came out, would have the opportunity to either play or pass. The teacher was the first to step on the floor and he triumphantly announced, “I’m passed.” The audience were laughing and Buboy quipped,”Buti na lang di mo dinagdagan ng away.†(Good thing you did not add away.) I don’t think the contestant understood why the people were laughing. He was so high on his fast action. Well, let’s just hope that the subjects he teach are Math and Filipino. Incidentally, he flubbed on all the songs in the final countdown so he was not able to take home even P20,000. Poor man.

Food supplements are all the rage nowadays. My friend’s mother-in-law has been telling me the benefits of their products. Even my doctor has advised me to take vitamin c and vitamin c with iron because my resistance to sickness is very low these days. I’ve just recovered from an infection previously and now I’m down with another one. I think the key to choosing the right food supplement is to try and see what works for you. But first you have to ensure that they are BFAD registered. Speaking of food supplements, there are even brands, like Orovo, which are available on line. They even promise international shipping. I guess the world is really getting smaller.

I was on my to the office the other day riding the jeepney. My bottom was barely occupying one fourth of the seat and traffic was barely crawling. Aside from that, the heat was really heavy, even at 7:30 in morning. I was perspiring a lot (ladies don’t sweat like pigs, hehe), care of the heat and the paracetamol I drank earlier. As I was looking outside the jeepney and envying the people who were fortunate enough to have cars with air condition and tinted windows, I noticed this guy driving a blue Honda. He was styling his short hair. Every time the vehicles stopped because of the traffic, he’d get his comb and style his hair. His hair was so short that just one pass of a comb would have set it to right. When our jeepney came abreast with his car, I noticed that he looked like a college student. I guess that explains it. And they say girls are vain.
