Lifts

The building where I work was designed and built way before the concept of designing buildings to serve the needs of the physically disabled became popular. Floors have upper and lower levels where the elevators are located in the upper levels and the restrooms are located in the lower levels. It is very difficult for people in wheelchair or in crutches to work in this building because they would not be able to navigate going up or down a flight of stairs on their own to get to the bathroom or to take the elevator. Installing a stair lift is one alternative to make the building a bit more disabled friendly. Of course another alternative would be to demolish the entire building and build a new one. But that would not do since the building is a kind of an architectural landmark in the area.
